Outdoor Lighting
On a suburban section in Papakura, Manurewa or Takanini the work is usually straightforward: a run out to the deck, some path lighting, a sensor flood over the drive. The part worth getting right is the switching — lighting you have to walk back inside to turn off tends not to get used.
Rural Franklin is a different job. On lifestyle blocks around Waiuku, Clarks Beach, Glenbrook and Patumahoe the distances are long enough that cable sizing and voltage drop actually matter, and there is usually a gate, a shed and a garage to light as well as the house. We trench and run it properly rather than stringing something temporary that fails the first wet winter.
Everything outdoors gets specified for the conditions it will live in: IP-rated fittings, weatherproof enclosures, and salt-tolerant hardware where a property is close to the Manukau or the Firth.
